Carl Weathers, born on January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was first an American footballer before becoming an actor, then a film director and a producer. He is best known for playing the roles of boxer Apollo Creed in the Rocky saga and Major Dillon in the movie Predator.

Before becoming an actor he was an American football player and was part of the Oakland Raiders (NFL) and British Columbia Lions (CFL) of professional football. After graduating from San Diego State University in Theater Arts, in 1974, he quit the competitive sport.
