Gillian Anderson is an American actress, born on  August 9, 1968, in Chicago. Despite having started her acting career in the theater, Gillian Anderson enjoyed public and success during the 1990s for her first television role. She made a two-decade portrayal of the rigorous scientist Dana Scully in the X-Files television series and in the two accompanying feature films (The X-Files: The Movie in 1998 and The X-Files)

Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago into a modest family formed by Edward and Rosemary Anderson from English, Irish and German ancestors. At the age of two, her family moved to Puerto Rico, for a little over a year, then to England, to London, where her father entered the world of film production. Gillian Anderson obtained very good grades at Coleridge private school, where she developed an interest in biology as well as for the paranormal.
