Mandip Gill graduated with a BA in Performance from the University of Central Lancashire. She played for several years in the theater before getting her first television role in 2012, when she was cast to star in the soap opera Hollyoaks. She passes several auditions before being definitively chosen for the role of Phoebe Jackson, a homeless woman. She left the show in 2015 and her character was killed in the Gloved Hand Killer storyline.

In October 2017, the BBC announced that Mandip Gill was playing the role of Yasmin Khan, one of the Doctor's companions, from season 11 of Doctor Who (2018). She met Tosin Cole, her Hollyoaks co-star, who played Ryan Sinclair, another companion.
