Rick Famuyiwa, born on June 18, 1973 in the United States, is an American film director, producer and screenwriter.

In 1999, he directed The Wood, his first slightly autobiographical film set in Inglewood, a district of Los Angeles. In 2002, he shot in New York, his second film Brown Sugar, again with Taye Diggs in one of the main roles. In 2007, he wrote Talk to Me, a film about the true story of Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene, an American television and radio host (1960s) which approaches the themes of racism, poverty, and drug use.
