Steven Moffat, born on November 18, 1961, in Paisley (Scotland), is a British screenwriter and creator of television series. He is best known for his work on the Doctor Who and Sherlock series.

His first television job was for the Press Gang series. He then used his own divorce as inspiration for Joking Apart and his relationship with the producer Sue Vertue for the Six Sexy series. Being a former teacher, he also wrote the Chalk series, a school-based sitcom.
